    Greetings,

I am experiencing a problem right out of the twilight zone.

    Here's the chronology of events:

    1) My Harmony remote stopped controlling my cable box.
    2) I tried the original cable box remote and the same thing happened.
    3) I replaced the batteries for both remotes - no success.
    4) I tried the two remotes within 2 feet of the box. The channel changing worked, but not the box on and off
    5) I called the cable company and swapped boxes.
    6) While waiting for the cable box to boot, I tried the Tivo
    7) I had basically the same problems with the Tivo, this time using both the Harmony and the original Tivo Remote
    8) I tried new batteries, with the same results.
    9) I tried new batteries, from a different package, with the same results.
    10) I walked away confused and bitter

Assuming I don't have multiple bad battery batches, what could cause this? Is it possible that something is jamming the signal?

This isn't a new setup - it's been up and operational for 1-2 years.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    -Mike

I'm sad to report that I haven't added a new plasma.

Environmentally, it is the first hot day of the year. It is not the first hot day the system's been through. Could a ceiling fan cause problems?

    Thank you for your help.

I'd like to take credit for solving this one, but it was just dumb luck. Dumb luck is the kind of luck I do best.

One of the remotes, who's function was taken over by the Harmony and was sitting (long unused) on a shelf, got a button stuck in the on position. I'm guessing it was the humidity. Second guess: my kids.

When I picked it up, the button popped out and all is now well in my world.
