Help me to name a product.

The company I work for is launching a new product shortly and we are trying to come up with a name. I can't give exact details of the product, but the basic function of it will be to join 2 separate items together and hold firmly onto both. It will be sold into the construction/quarrying sector.

I've been using Thesaurus.com to come up with words like Fusion, Anchor, Nexus, Clamp, Vice etc.

Since there are many on here with a much wider vocabulary than I have, I'm hoping people can chip in with words that would fit the product description, but that may not be widely used except in their own field.

As usual, your help is appreciated.

Rough and ready it is then.

I would have said "sticks like ****", but that's gone.

So how about "**** to a blanket"?*

Hey man - I understand you cannot give too much detail but is it possible to give a bit more of a general description -
Is it like a clamp?
Is it like a Vice?
Is it like Glue?

How about calling it "The Force" - tag line "use the force"
That may already be copyrighted though :)
-OR-
"Vice-Grip" or "Grip-Vice" - tag line "When you need a Vice-like-Grip"

As you can see it is probably obvious why I missed my calling in Marketing but I do like having a go at things like this.... I Luv Puns.

Best one I seen was in a Scottish Comedy called Still Game - Competition to name "scones" for a company - Tam came up with "S-Gone" - Not bad... Not bad at all.

There's an event in the World's Strongest Man competitions where the competitors have to hold 2 angled columns one on each arm... that is called the "Hercules Hold"... perhaps you could go for something like "Hercules Grip"?

ahem, sorry

Ah, I take it all back.

I work in the construction field and that's the sort of crude terminology we use :smashin:

It has a hydraulic locking mechanism if that's any help. No glue, velco or sellotape is used :D.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.....any science/IT words (I'm looking at you Iccz) that have a similar meaning to what we are after?

Hydrafuse?

Fusion is named so because of how atomic nuclei fuse together, if you are making a fusion or a very strong grip using hydraulics something like that could work?

Would Avforums end up having the copyright, maybe as of forum terms and conditions?

Got to watch out for 'hidden robbers'.

Something based on blackholes? holds on so tight even light can't get out.
Blacks out for obvious reasons, a black hole is a quantum singularity, so quantum glue?

quantumglue.co.uk is still available, but quantumglue.com is taken

"Clampit", "Clampon" or similar?

The former would certainly appeal to some of the families around my way :)

I'm not very good at this sort of thing, am I? :(
