I've been looking for an LCD stand for about a week now, been to every website I can find. I still have not found what I am looking for. I am just about to order an Samsung LE32R41BDX 32" LCD TV. I want a stand that is not wall mount or desktop mount, but floor mount! I have found one stand I like but it's just under £500 which is way to much ( it was the Axia Lo-Level Stand, at www.unicol.com ) This is the style of stand I am looking for but there does not seam to be many arrounf.

    My requirement are
Must be floorstanding, holding the TV at eye height when sitting on a sofa.
Must have a cable tidy feature
Must have at least 1 shelf to hold my center speaker.

    Anybody got any ideas ??????

    Oh, ore info

My reason for a stand like this is I don't see the point in getting a nice thin TV then putting it on a deep glass stand. My reason for getting an LCD tv was to take up less room so the stand needs to a thin. The only thing I need to put on it is the center speaker and I could always put that somewhere else if I found a nice stand that wouldn't accomadate it. All my other kit ( amp, video, etc ) is on a Hi-Fi Rack.

Thanks for any help in advance

Unfortunately I looked into this , and all the stuff available was way too trendy and expensive.

Luckily I have loads of junk, so I needed an under TV cabinet AND a hi-fi tall cabinet.

It will probably be cheaper to sell your hi-fi rack and just put all your gear and centre speaker in a cabinet that the TV sits on.

Thanks for the quick reply Cyril. That will not work though. Where the Hi-Fi stand is I have room for the depth, where the TV is going to go I only have a few cm's to play with. That's why I'm buying and LCD TV, cus my current CRT swamps the room and leaves me little room.

I have found some more arround the £200 mark, but they only support up to a 26" LCD and the TV I am going to buy is 32"

What about this, what do people think of this? http://www.hifistore.co.uk/product.php?qsProd=ECLIPSELCD#

It doesn't say what size tv it supports, but say's up to 20Kg. The TV I am about to buy is only 17.8 Kg

So what do poeple think would this solve my stand problems ? or is a 32" lcd to bif for this ?

I think that the Unicol solution is the best looking and it is definitly the best made. Still a good British engineering firm and well worth the money.

I suppose you get what you pay for. Unicol are good and solid but expensive.

That one from hifistore.co.uk is cheap. But whether it is well-built and good quality is another thing - you should see it in the flesh before buying unless the store has a good returns policy.

http://www.standanddeliver.com/acatalog/frameset.html?LCDstands.html&actinic has an even cheaper stand!

My plasma is just sitting against the wall on a bench at the moment as I thought I would rather spend the £500 on some hard disks for my PC and TiVos.

I might just make my own stand out of MDF and paint it black or wenge.
Should only cost about £30. It will be 85% hidden by the sideboard below it.

Have you thought of spectral racks - they're a German company and they make some of the nicest racks I've come across - definitely work a look!

try here for the spectral site.

Tob3z here is a picture if the stand I like, but I don't think I will find anything like this in my budget. I have a black glass Stand for my DVD player and Hi-Fi seperates to I might look for a low level black glass stand for the TV to match.

Here is the Axia Lo-Level Stand

You can kiss my shinny metal ass if you think I am paying £350 for em though.

But they are the nicest stands I have found. There completely different from what your looking for, but you have to admit... there nice.

That last argos one is OK.

See I don't need room for amp/gamecube/vcr/etc as I already another stand with them on and I can't get rid of that as I have a record deck on the top and that will not go under a TV !!!

My current stand is black with black glass so now instead of the nice stand I posted pictures of I am thinking of now matching this. It only needs to take a 32" LCD TV and a centre speaker ( so only needs one shelf, but 2 would be OK )
My Hi-Fi Rack was only £160 4 years ago so those £350 ones are a rip off, but I liked them too.

I have now found this, what do people think
    http://www.bargainfurniture.net/cat....html?osCsid=a7aeb75c2c566a2a9dd8ae7c8a7e5fdd

Or can anybody else point me in the direction of a nice black, and black glass stand for sub £200

Oh, the other thing ( and this really make my search for an LCD stand hard ) is it has to be 40cm or less deep. I bought an LCD Tv to get more room in my lounge the last thing I want to do is stick a nice thin LCD on a great big stand ( why are all LCD stand I find so big ??? ) Depth is not an issue as I said before cause all my AV/Hi-FI equipment is on another stand elsewhere in my lounge. The deepest thing going on my LCD stand will be my center speaker which is somthing like 24cm deep.

Thats why the one at bargain furnature is good cus only 40cm deep !!!

I forgot in my earlier mail to thank you all as well, great sugestions for stands, but the hunt continues ( I sometimes think they just don't make a stand for someone with my requirments )

The first argos link is a good price for a glass stand.
The 3rd link is quite nice. Not very wide though. And it looks to black to me.
The bargin one looks ok. But again to small for me. But if thats the size you want £100 is a gd buy.

    Simon,

I know you said it had to be black, however I have been searching for similar dimensions and the only thing I have found is as follows:-

    http://www.bargainfurniture.net/cat...=2295?osCsid=e69ef6caf34f0fa2277474c5cbc9e02f

Obviously it is not a pedestal type stand and it is quite wide but it is very narrow (only 33cm).

Let us know if you find something, and I'll do the same.

    Good Luck!

Solved my problems in the end. I just bought one of these second hand from ebay
Sound Organisation Z530 ( picture attached ). It matchs my Sound Organisation Z560 which I have all my equipment on ( amp, DVD player, Record Deck, VCR etc ) also picture attached. On the Z530 I just have my 32" LCD TV and the center speaker, I have removed the bottom shelf so that if feels more open and my room certainly feels bigger now with a shallow stand in the room. Also matches my black speaker stands. Thanks for all you help I'm happy now I have found a stand.

You could have a look at this style here Cantilever Stands. There may be something that would suit your needs. The Vogel Stands can add extra shelving if you need that as well.

    Hope they help Andy
