HI guys, my "Samsung SP50L6HX" will be here in 3-4 weeks, and I want to get everything ready in preperation for it arriving (dvd player, cables that I will need for max quality etc)

Okay, my current dvd player is a cheapo £18 CELLO thing :suicide: which I am not sure is worth keeping considering Im moving from a 28" JVC telly to a 50" HDTV. (its okay on the 28" but I feel the quality may suffer on the bigger screen)

    Okay some questions:

    1) Which dvd player would u recommend? Can I plug it straight into my TV via composite, or will I need a converter?

(I intend on getting the xbox 360 and plugging it in via composite, and Im not sure if my TV has more than 1 set of composite inputs, so I may have to plug the dvd player in via HDMI-->DVI converter?)

    2) What cables am I likely gonna need to buy?

    3) Any other general info\help you can give would be great.

I DONT WANT TO GET THIS SCREEN AND BE LIKE " " @ THE QUALITY BECAUSE OF CRAPPY CABLES, OR CRAPPY HARDWARE ETC

    Many thanks for any help!

    BoB,

Do NOT use the composite input (on any screen) unless absolutely necessary. It is the weakest link.

    Here's some advice.

    1. Buy a DVD player with a HDMI output. Samsung do one for £150 or so.
    2. Plug the Xbox360 into the component input.
    3. Buy a component cable from Mark Grant (check the cable forum).

What other kit do you have or intend to buy?

    Cheers

    Mark

oops sorry yeah I meant COMPONENT (I always get the 2 muddled up)

    Thanks for the info

Edit: basically I will have the following connected to the TV:

    1) FREEVIEW-->I may need to buy a better box as the one I have is a cheap £20 one just with scart.... :(

    2) XBOX360

    3) DVD PLAYER

by the way, how many component connections does this TV have?

If it just has 1 set of component inputs, then how can I connect both a DVD player and XBOX 360 at the same time?
