    Hi everybody!

Since this is my first post I would like to say hello to everyone. Could you guys(any gals?:) help me out on a purchase. I'm looking at a used Tannoy speaker sistem, which consists of:
    - 2×Mercury M3,
    - centre Mercury mC,
    - Sub Mercury mSUB-10EUR and
    - 2×Mercury Surround Mx1

The speakers are 5 years old and in mint condition.

Also with this set I'm getting a Harman Kardon amplifier AVR 75 (only DD) and don't know the market price.

Could you quote prices for these products, as I don't really know how much I shoud l pay for them these days.

    Thank you very much!

    Regards from Slovenia!

I bought a pair of the Tannoy M3 floorstanders about 8 years ago for £230 plus the centre speaker for £100 and these were the prices in UK when new. I thought that they were good speakers and priovided excellent value for money, partly as they were actually manufactured next door to you in Hungary.

The rear speakers sold here for £120 but I have no idea about the subwoofer and don't suppose that UK prices are that relevant to you anyway.

Ian, thanks for your reply. I would like to find out how much are these speakers still worth as the original price does not help me much. ;)

if all are 5 y.o. and are in good condition these are the prices i would pay:

    m3 - £50
    mc - £40
    mx1 - £40
    sub - £60

the mxs' are good but are no more than tannoy entry level, so don't let the seller tell you different.

offer the seller £200 - it's a quality and powerful system, but as always its a buyers market when s/h.

i guess it depends what your options are but i personally would expect this kit to slaughter most small sub/sat packages in the £100-500 region

Debaser thanks for this quotes, they help me a lot. Are you sure about the M3's? Only 50 quid? I was thinking closer to a 100. Any other opinion? Thank you so much!

    hi again.
M3s where my first floorstander and when i bought them (5 years ago) they were £129 from 'richer sounds'.

they are great value at the price but £100 is too much to pay for 5y.o. M3s.

dont lose a good surround set up over it though, if you really like it and you have a few extra ££ in your pocket - DO NOT PAY over £250 though as you need cables and the overall cost will go up and up

    hope this helps

Today I made the trade. I've received:
    - 1 pair Tannoy Mercury M3's,
    - 1 Tannoy subwoofer Mercury mSUB 10,
    - 1 pair Mercury mR's (instead of mX1's),
    - 1 Mercury mC centre speaker,
    - HK AVR 75 DD receiver/amplifier
    - all the neccessary cables and a remote included

    for 338 pounds.

    Was this a fair trade?

Also does anyone happen to know where I could get special floor-coupling spikes for M3's? The owner does not have them.

I wonder if there's a complete overview of Tannoy past speakers on the internet? Sadly, I don't have any exact details about these speakers. Are they reachable anywhere?

    Regards,
    Tilen
