    Hi there,

got myself into a bit of a mind bender, I have a Pioneer pdp434HDE plasma, I'm looking to upgrade my DVD player from a Pioneer 454 M/R.

Do I go HDMI or YUV ?

thanks for the help in advance.

    Hi Kelvin,

You haven't specified a budget, but if you like Pioneers, the choice for an HDMI output player to go with your HDMI capable plasma is either the 668 or 868. If you're not bothered about the scaling capabilities and iLink of the 868, I'd save yourself £300+ and get a 668. Hope this helps.

KelvinHT - Where did you get the 868AVi from in the end. I searched high and low for somewhere with it in stock. I finally found one at www.creative-audio.co.uk for £799.

Also where did you get the HDMI cable from out of interest. :)

I was toying with the Arcam 79 or the Pioneer (like the upscale bit).

Have you tried both upscale settings?

How do you think the HDMI works out compared to Component?

    Sorry for the questions :)

You will find a lot of other relevant threads on this if you search this forum... connecting the 868 through HDMI to 434/504 HDE, the best results are with the 720 x 480/576p setting!
