Ok. I've spent the last hour searching through the recommended websites and I couldn't find a site that does the following simple things  ...

    1. Sells SACD & DVD-A

    2. Makes them easy to find.

    3. Displays both the Artist and title of the album.

    4. Tells me whether the SACD's are multi channel.

Can anyone recommmend a site that does all of this  .......please :)

About the most comprehensive and organised listings of SACD and DVD-A that I've found is at MVC (check the links on the left of the page).

Still nothing I want to buy there though

Thanks for the links Hawkie :)

I looked at dvdboxoffice before...they don't seem to do item 4 on my list :( well, on the discs I looked at anyway.

play looks more promising. I looked on the playusa site and couldn't find dedicated sections. I thought the usa site would have more titles.

    try - http://www.dvd4music.com/
not the cheapest, but have a good selection...

a quick query tho, with the system I've got (see my signature), I've connected my av amp to my dvd player using 3 sets of phono leads and I've got 2 dvd-a discs (pogues and rem) and an SACD (mike oldfield), but only the REM plays multichannel...any ideas..?

Tried futureent before and I just couldn't find them. Hooray for urls :)

Babble...I found the set-up of my 565 quite tricky. Especially as I am connecting to TV and amp.

For SACD you need to set your player to play the multi channel tracks. My 565 was defaulted to play the CD or 2 channel SACD tracks.

DVD-A. Some discs seem to default to 2 channel. I think you can press audio on your remote to cycle through the possible options.

    Try www.dvdpacific.com

A good little company and you will not beat their prices. It's best if you order two which helps with the postage and they take about a week to arrive.:hiya:

    I'd recommend www.play.com

They seem to have the best prices around, generally good, fast service. Some of their items (esp SACD) do seem to get a little hidden. I had to do some searching to turn up the Alison Krauss live SACD. Their hybrids tend to turn up in the standard CD section.

Their Dylan SACDs are now in stock and shipping

Thanks very much for the replies. Here are my comments...

Play.com fails on item 2 on my list. You select sacd and you only get a list of 5 or so discs. You've then got to top selling to see more...but what if the music I like isn't top selling where do I find it?

Amazon fails on item 4. Also repeats titles over and over again as you page down :(

dvdpacific are good. Once you realise there is a little hyperlink thing in point6 font on the top right of the music page. They eventually fail on item 4 as well.

dvd4music seem to be the best. Although it would be nice to pick the genre. paging through all the classical music is a bit boring.

dvdboxoffice seem to have improved their site. You can actually filter by format and genre. So for instance you can select dvd-a, sacd and pop. ALthough they fail on item 4.

I didn't think I was asking for much. Maybe I'm getting fussy in my old age. I have to combine the info from two sites to decide whether to buy a disc

In its defence, you *can* browse SACDs by genre at play.com

Also bear in mind that many of their hybrids will turn up if you do a search on the standard CD page. If you try typing "hybrid" in the CD title search engine, it yields 65 hits.
