OK, the deal is that the missus does not like box speakers in the front room. However she will make some consesions - I have had my eye on some B&W 60? S3 bookshelve speakers for some time. So I can either opt for the 600 S3 and place them on a heavy duty bench at near ear level or a 601 S3 on the floor. Not ideal, but I don't have much choice at this point. What do I go for?
Fotgot to say, this is for stereo listening with a Musical Fidelity A2 Class A amp.
    Thanx Azzo.

600's at ear level will be much better than 601's on the floor. (unless you like heavy soggy bass and muffled top end)
Best of all would be 601's at ear level.
The 601 is not that much bigger than the 600 : maybe you can persuade the other half?

    Missed this reply, sorry.
Thats what I thought, Ear level listening is better and also proper stands makes a huge difference as well.
I will try to dem them both next week. I could always buy the bigger ones and then try to pursuade her. Thanx
    Azzo.

You need to be careful I believe they have rear ports? so do not get them too close to the wall (they do come supplied with bungs) If the bench option means having them close to a rear wall, make sure you demo them at a similar distance from a wall.

Thanx for all of the advice,
The interesting thing about the rear ports is that these speakers were actually designed to be wall mounted (They come with wall mounts).
I will attempt to hear these soon. Great looking speaker BTW.
    Azzo.
