    Hey all

been retying to make a shortlist of a decent hifi setup then pop into seven oaks to demo. Tho my shortlist is actualy quite large :D and i wanna chop it down a bit further so i dont spend hours and hours demo'ing it all with all the possibilities :smashin:

So far for the amp i have narrowed it down to...

NAD C352CT, Arcam A65 plus and Rotel RA02

    CD Players...

    NAD C542, Arcan CD73 & Rotel cd02

    Speakers....

Yet to be decided upon, but roughly on a budget of 400/500 ish

The setup would mianly be used for rock/metal. With the odd spalsh of other things. Any info would be great fellas

The NAD is loud and quite "gutsy" not necessarily the most accurate probably the Arcam for accuracy and the Rotel is in the middle.

So depending on what you want each of them could be ideal :)

For Rock/Metal I would actually consider the Nad it's a fun amp and just rocks. don't know why but to me it's that sort of amp.

If you can listen to all 3 and decide for yourself.

Oh you've made no mention of speakers, do you have these already, or know what you want to go for?

    So small speakers :)

Don't know how small, I suppose B&W 600s3 or Kef Q1c's would be quite acceptable, there are also some quite nice baby mission speakers around at the moment.

Thanks for the help, i'll demo some of the setups in sevenoaks and swap it around with a few diff book shelf type speakers.

Not really sure where to demo the nad with B&W speakers tho, i know my local richer sounds does the nad stuff as sevenoaks dont stock them. But not totaly sure if Richer sounds stock b&w speakers, which would be a shame.

Rotel Combo + Castle Richmond 3is. Then add an active sub when you move to a larger room.

My view is that the speakers have the biggest ‘sonic signature’ to the sound of the system.

I would be more inclined to select the speakers first, and then the electronics would automatically be reduced.

I do like the idea of standmount speakers supplemented with a sub. Do you have room to mount them on stands, or will they be on a bookshelf (or wall mounted)?
