    Seasons Greetings.

I am about to purchase either the marantz 4400/5400 or yamaha 350/450 reciever and need 5.1 speakers, max one grand and they have to be silver! Which ones:

*Cantons CD 2.22 from the germans 900 euros
    *B&W vm1/as1 from superfi for 700 quid
*Elacs from hifi store for 700 quid.

    Thanks for your help.

After a month of indecision and a few demos i bought the following Kef 5.1:
    Q7 floorstanders £600
    Q2 Dipole £300
    Q9 Centre £180
    PSW2500DA Sub £260

Purchased from HiSpek, Herts (What Hi Fi)

If you replace the Q7's and Q9 with Q4's and the Q5 respectively (I think it's the Q5, next centre speaker down anyway), you should get for around your budget, and I believe you can get them in Silver.

Stunning sound, but of course, all to personal taste.

They do but they can't mail order Kef speakers due to Kef's distance selling policy. You would have to go instore to buy them. The same goes for any online retailer selling Kef speakers.
To rectify an incorrect post above, the next centre speaker down from the Q9C is the Q6C and not the Q5 as mentioned. The Q5's are floorstanders. :lesson:

If you find you like the Kef Q Series but not too keen on the floorstanders, I'll have a pair of Q1's in maple coming up for sale on the 14th once my trading ban has been lifted :)

I sold 2 DVD Players, 3 Projectors and 5 Amps and ran away with the money

Seriously. I agreed to buy something but couldn't go through with it due to a financial inconvenience. Nothing major IMO, and I did apologise to the seller but it was enough for a ban

This is the web site anyway, Apologies for "Incorrect post" above. Although I would have thought my note in brackets indicated uncertainty on that particular model, and a need to check?
