    Hello All

Well, I have been out today and bought my Sony DB795 Amp.

I now need to choose my speakers....but have no idea what to get.

I am using these mainly for DVD/TV along with music CD.

The guy at Superfi reccomended the Kef Q4 pack (2 x Front, 2 x Rear, 1 x Centre, no woofer). However this is £500!!!

Ideally the top of my budget is approx £350 for a 5.1/6.1 set up. Ideally the fronts will be tower floor standers (rears would like as floor standers but would not mind if were stand mounted).

So, please help me and let me know what I should buy!!!

The rest of my set up is:

    LG 42" plassie (RX11 I think!!)
    Panny DMR E55 recorder
    Crystal DivX player
    PC
    (Xbox 360 when released)

As always, your expert advice much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Branny

£360 isn't a lot for a system including two decent floorstanders. If I had to do that, I'd go with Mission m33i front, m3c2i centre and m30i rears. That's £365 from HiFiBitz. There aren't many more corners to cut: Mission are very good value; but the cheaper m3c1 centre is allegedly not up to much.

    Two alternatives spring to mind:

    1) get a decent sub/sat system like the Canton CD1 available to powerbuy from this forum. I've just got one myself: great little system! £240 for 5.1 excluding stands.

    2) forget surround for now and blow the whole budget on a pair of better floorstanders like the Monitor Audio Silver S5 or the Acoustic Energy Aegis Evo 3b.

Let us know what you eventually decide!

    Hey there

Already started looking at the canton with additionals ie my option 3 here:

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1847578#post1847578

So, do I go with option 3 above or the Kef Q4 pack (as per this post)....or something entirely different (if I upped my budget to £500). TBH I really fancy front floor standers.

    Cheers

    Hi All

    Thanks for the advice.

I also got What Hi -Fi S & V and noted that the Wharfedale Diamond 8's had excellent reviews so I have ordered (plus sub) from Hifi bitz using the link above (gone for the cool 80's black!!) - Came to about £350 all in.

Shall see how I go, if they are not to my liking then shall send back and re-think. Any Diamond 8 owners out there, what are your views on these???

    Hello All

Well I finally went with the Wharfedale Diamond 8's and they look great. Unfortunately, because of the layout of my room, they block a quarter of the Plassie screen from one of the couches!!!

So back to the drawing board meaning floor standers are out.

I have norrowed my choices down to the following:

    Kef KHT 1005 @ £300
    Mission M30 @£400
    Canton CD1 @ £240 (plus CD50 Centre @ £114 if required).

So what would you experts reccomend from these 3 options????

I have read really good things about the Missions so am inclined to these at the mo. One of my concerns is the ability to play music loud whebn required and it seems Missions may be best for this.

    Help!!!

    Thanks
