Must be silver and cute! Women! I am trying to introduce my sister to seperates! She wants Surround sound (in future) so reasonable stereo performance:
    Max budget for amp £180!
    Current short list!:smashin:
    Sony STRDE495
    Sony STRDE595
    Pioneer VSXD512
    Yamaha HTR5630RDS
I am leaning towards the Sony 595 any one own or demoed one ???
In terms of speakers looking at Mission M30/31 and M71i/M72i She would like silver must be good musically and sub £100 preferably £80 £250 max budget you see.
She is going for some demos at the weekend/Saturday. I am not a sony fan but they do seem to have the best package at this price.

System is to replace her current 9 year old Alba system!!!!
She has a PS2 which will be used for DVD, My old Technics 480 CD player and her Panny Portable MD recorder adding Minidisc deck (Sony SJMD480) DVD deck (Tosh SD330E My thoughts) DAB tuner around XMAS all to go with her 14" Combi:D

Any help or advice appreciated guys I demoed a yamaha5640 at sevenoaks with Monitor Audio B1 and B&W DM601s3 :D sounded great but way over budget! I am well uo for a pair of them for me though!

Anyone got any opinions on the Pioneer or Yammy, still leaning towards the Sony 595.

Umm never heard of it, but your right it does look like Superfi...could have been designed by the same bloke. Seems respectable though :) I have bookmarked it anyway.

    hornydragon,

Yamaha HTR5630RDS is the same as Yamaha RX-V430, so if you search on 430 you will find loads of really satisfied owners, mate.

And at a price of £170 at RS it is really good value.

I reckon it is the best of those you listed.

    Hi all. :)

hornydragon, a friend of mine has a Sony STR-DB940 and an DVP-S735D for sale (also a B&W CC6).
They are both silver and in excellent condition (original boxes, manuals and remotes), having only been used as a bedroom system.

Please PM me if you'd be at all interested. ;)

I got the yamaha av25 package from unbeatable

    http://www.unbeatable.co.uk/CatalogueItem_13494.html

The sound from it really good and I would recommend it to anyone who wants surround sound on a budget, it sells at comet for £299.99, so not a bad saving.
The only trouble is they have to order them in on special order and sometimes you my have to wait a while for delivery, six weeks in my case.

It occured to me that Yamaha 430 is replaced with 340 black and 5630 in titan.

Anyway, have you called and checked how many weeks it would take for unbeatable to get the package?

If unbeatable takes too long for the delivery, then you could use alternative ways.

    1. buy the amp from www.hifistore.co.uk for £175 delivered and the yamaha ns100 from RS for £80 = £255 and you should have it in time b4 your sisters bday

    2. to make it simpler ask hifistore to price match RS's Yamaha NS100 price and if they say yes, you can have both units from them £255 delivered, in time.

It will be £25 more expensive than unbeatable, but it's an opportunity cost, do you wait or get it now.

    Does that help you mate?

Cheers it does Wasabi She is in greece at the moment!!!
She wasn't planning on all 5 speakers yet as she doesnt have room just a decent front pair! (M71i or M30) but good to know that hifistore have the yamaha for £175 I'll see what unbeatable are doing just the amp for.
I guess it is know between the SONY 595 and Yamaha 5630
Links if anyone wants to comment:
    Yamaha HTR-5630RDS
    SONY STRDE595
Super fi pricematch so if they match Hifistore both are under £180 if she finally decides then i will do a whole round of pricematching!!!

    hornydragon,

unbeatable has special order on the Yamaha, so perhaps that the leadtime is the same as the package.

Also the Yamaha has this Cinema mode that tries to recreate a DTS-ES/DD-EX sound and does it actually very well, according to members here. So I reckon this is a added bonus over the Sony, plus it is as good for music and cinema, which I'm not sure Sony is.

I guess I favour the Yam.

They are cheap and excellent service too. They rang me up to let me know when things came in and when to expect delivery. I'm suprised they dont get mentioned more.
