Hello I have 2 dvd players and neither will play home recorded audio cd's, I have recorded on computer and also via a philips 770 using real digital and optical connections.

    I am using AUDIO cdr's

But I cannot make an audio (CDR) copy play on my DVD units.

    Any ideas please.

The laser in many DVD players simply cannot focus properly on the recorded surface of a CDR. There are many people who insist that some certain brand of CDRs will work on some certain type of DVD player, but, in general this is a non-starter. Unless the DVD player is equipped with a dual-focus laser, you are unlikely to find a reliable answer.

Except - if you use CDRW (rewritable) discs then your DVD player almost certainly WILL be able to read them.

Unfortunately, CD only players generally DO read CDRs but generally DON'T read CDRWs. So, if you want to make discs that you can, say, play in the car and at home on your DVD player, the only reliable answer is a new DVD player - one that is CDR compatible.

You didn't say which players you have tried, but check here for compatibility:

    In the DVD Player section.

    Thank you for the replies.

I will try CD-RW on the CD recorder (philips cdr 770) The two DVD's that do not see the cdr audio recordings are:

Sony DVP-CX850 (multi beast) and a Sharp DV 700 single play

Thank you for all help and assistance.

Well there's your answer my friend. Neither player is CDR compatible.

Good news is they will play CDRW though. The difference in price is minimal for the media.

    Cheers
