I bought this IDE drive today and installed and formatted it. Problem is that more often than not I get a blue screen when I try to access it. If I remove the drive the problem goes away.

I'm using it as a slave music storage drive only.

    Any ideas please?

    Hi,

    The usual one with the 0X0000000A, 0X00000019, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0X804EB977

although some of these change each time.

Might seem like a daft question, but have you tried typing the error message into google and seeing what it brings up?

You could also try downloading a diagnostics program and running a check in safe mode.

Was it a new drive, or second hand?

Not daft at all. Tried all the above. I've just removed all the jumpers from the drive and it seems better. It's a new drive.

That would have been my next question.

Make sure the jumpers are in the slave possition.

If you still have problems, take it back.

IDE? SATA? What are the details of your system? Have you changed anything else?

I can't quickly think of something that would cause a bluescreen. Have you removed another drive that contained your paging file?

What have you formatted it as? FAT32 or NTFS and which operating system are you using?
