I think it was made in the 50s, probably B&W and i'm pretty sure it was British.

The only scene that I remember is one of the inmates (or several) pouring hot boiling water over another inmate as a means of 'punishment'. For what reason I don't know.

I remember as a kid seeing the film several times and the scene seemed quite shocking at the time, hence why it's still quite vivid in my mind.

Anybody know the title? I've searched IMDB on all plots for 'Brirish prison' films, then again I could be wrong, it might have been Hollywood.

Was it set in a hot deserty type country? If so possibly The Hill. Admittedly it's a while since I've watched it so I could be wrong(big style).

Could it be The Criminal starring Stanley Baker?. Though made in 1960, it sounds like it might fit the bill.
