have been putting of choosing a new TV for quite a while, mainly as so many different types and a little confused as what to do - and its easier to do nothing!

I have a 36inch tv and use a topfield PVR. Arcam amp/dvd and B&W surround system.

I predominantly watch recorder material from the toppy and occasional DVD's. so what is important is picture quality from freeview sources and a reasonable picture for some one sitting at right angles to the screen would be good as well.

would prefer not to need to watch with curtains pulled as well.

short list was Sony SXRD and more recently Sony W LCD can any one advise as to what I should be looking at?
can afford £2500 ( original budget for plasma) for right set - but would prefer to spend less:)
