Hi, just wondered if any of you guys can help me out. I'm just about to buy a Dennon 3802 amp and looking for suitable speakers to go with it. I've got a very demanding Mrs who wont let me put speakers in unless they're the size of a matchbox, problem! I've auditioned the Energy 5.2 system and it's bigger brother the Energy Encore and was very impressed with both. Are these any good as far as you know? and can I upgrade to buy additional rear speakers? Alternativly Mission FS2 flat thingies have got the approval, but can I add additional rears as they use a Mission unbilical system (Sorry if this has been asked before by the way).

My advice would be to make space for larger speakers by removing the Mrs from the equation...

The Energy Take 5 package was reviewed by What Hifi in August and earned five stars plus "Best in Test".

Others to look out for are the KEF eggs at £800 or £650ish if you know where to look which seem to be the current favourites.

I use the Def Tech Pro Cinema speakers which are about 1000 retail but discounts are available and think that they are marvellous.

I toyed with the idea of flat speakers at the rear but gave up the idea.

I've just installed the KEF "Eggs" and they really are good. Would the Mrs mind if you used a sub-woofer??

I think she's ok with that as long as I buy her something as a bribe!
I'll give these Eggs a demo I think, thanks for the help. Do you know of any websites doing a good deal on them?

It would seem that everyone quotes the same £800 price and there is no advertsied discounting. You will have to negotiate.

This has been the topic of a previous thread.

You should listen to the Ruark system. This will go a lot better with this amp. I checked them out but couldn't afford them, but they were very good.

I have the Mirage AVS- 500 Sub/ Sat system. It retails now for around £500 complete with sub. Given the confines of your room and your Mrs, this system wil suit both. I personally find it superb.
