HELP...HD72 & Projection Rookie all in one

I am not very good with this kind of stuff so be patient. I bought a HD72, hooked it up with HDMI to my cable box HDMI that is also High Def capable up to 1080i. When I go to the high def stations, I get a green static over the whole picture. To fix it I go to the cable box menu and 'de-select' 1080 and 720 and just have 480 checked and the green static goes away....but then I look on my cable box and it is running on 480 obviously when I should be able to do 720 without the green static...what gives? Any advice??

Also, the same thing happens when I hook up my DVD player, selecting 720 or higher produces a green static or fuzzy picture, if I down grade to lower than 720 pic is clear?

Okay, (I feel like I am talking to myself) but I figured out the problem. The quality of my 30' cable is poor, I plugged in a 6' high dollar cable and it worked great. I still need a cable that is around 25' long...How do I ensure I am getting a very good, high quality cable??
