help freesat installation and sky dish

I have purchased a humax foxsat pvr, i also have a non subsribed sky sat installation, i purchased a quad lnb from argos, and replaced the sky lnb. The humax foxsat and sky decoder work great from the existing cable that sky installed, but nothing works from the lnb to either sky box or humax from the cable that was supplied with the argos pack i have even tried new cable and they dont work either, it just says no signal found , so what i am doing wrong .

I'd double check the condition of the cable ends making sure the centre core is isolated from the outer cable and making good contact with the actual socket, taped for water proofing of course.

Always remember to turn power off at the mains when removing LNB inputs, always a chance of a short.

Do some detective work to isolate whether it's a cable, settop box or an LNB fault by swapping cables around , first at the settop box end , then, if necessary, at the LNB end - making sure you have already marked or noted which cable/LNB combinations already work first.
