I bought your exelent SVHS Video Recorder HR-S9700 in UK 6 month ago.

It was working fine until today it start to record/show a picture, covered with noise, something like "colour snow"-small, moving horizontal red, green and blue lines/dotes...

I have tried to play previously recorded on the same recorder tapes(which showed fantastic picture before), but with the same result!...

I loved this Recorder, and now I am very upset!

    PLEASE, HELP ASAP!!!!

Have you tried a Head Cleaner Cassette? See if that helps at all.

It was probably clogged heads. They often clear themselves. It's always worth trying reverse search when you get clogged heads. Reversing the direction of tape travel can sometimes remove minor gunge.

    GaryB,

Any ideas why JVC does not have a auto cleaning system in their VHSs, as Panasonic ?...

May be the magnetic currents from auto cleaning system affect negatively some other systems...

And is this system is so effective?

    Thank you,

There are a couple of reasons that head cleaners are rarely fitted now. One is cost. I know it's only a few pence but when VCRs are as cheap as they are now, every penny must be saved. The main reason is that they don't work particularly well in the long term. JVC VCRs, along with many other brands were fitted with head cleaners a few years ago. They are just simple spinning mechanical foam brushes that are pushed onto the heads for a second or so when a tape is inserted or (sometimes) when play is selected. Since most people don't have their VCRs serviced as they should, over time, the foam brush fills with gunge from the head and ceases to be effective. It can actually end up putting previously removed oxide back onto the head which of course clogs them up.

Well, my full name is Judah Ben-Hur but I've never liked the Judah part of it so please don't tell anyone else.

    Until now.

    Yes, I know.

So why are you here then?

ps. Do you just throw in CapItAL LetTErs at random or is this some form of new language....perhaps Euro-English?
