I see a lot of people going on about newsgroups, I personally dont bother with them. I already pay for 2Mb broadband, I'm not then paying even more for bandwith on a newsgroup server.
    How to use bittorrent:
1.. go to Azureus website and setup
2.. do a search for HDTV in the movies section here
3.. wait for download to complete
    4.. enjoy movie

couldnt be easier, newsgroups PAH!!! :thumbsdow

This thread will probably be closed and I will be told off for giving you this information, so I already have someone spanking me for being a naughty boy.

    Ooouchhh!!

But the only downside with BT seems to be the slow download speeds.. the newsgroups seems to be the quickest way of downloading these huge files.

Well, I'll second the suggestion of Azureus. And while it will not be as fast as a newsgroup feed it is certainly much easier for a beginner to get to grips with. I personally find that speeds are pretty good, for example I'm currently downloading at an average of 100KBs +. If you are experiencing slow speeds you should check your firewall/router configuration to ensure it's allowing inbound connections on port 6881.

If I'm in a hurry for something I tend to use www.easynews.com.
