Hi

I have an external 2TB caddy hdd (now discontinued) which has failed, upon opening I see there are two Samsung 1TB disks Sata connected to the board in the caddy.

Am I to think that disks were raid 0 (Drive showed 2TB) - but cannot believe an external drive would be Raid 0 !?

this is the drive GMax

Any all help welcomed.

"the controller spans the capacity to make one large volume visible to your operating system"

try removing them & fit into another single drive caddy.

Yep that was my thought too!, have a hdd dock to try - see if either of the disks are readable.

Couldn't find any info on the controller, so hoping it does as you say & just combines the two drives.

Both 1TB hdd re-formatted & seem to be working fine in the hdd dock & now installed in a DS212j without issues, any all combinations of hdd in the gmax wouldn't bring the caddy to life, controller fault i presume.
