Can anyone help me. I am trying to connect my PS3 to my av receiver Sony str-da1200es. The current connections are as follows: HDMI to tv. Not connected to receiver as SKY HD and dvd recorder hdmi used instead. For audio used optical cable from PS3 to receiver. I can decode 5.1 sound, but when trying to get 5.1PCM, I can only get dolby pro logic(2.1). I am sure the receiver has decoded 5.1PCM before, but can't remember how this was done.

    Any ideas?

Just so you don't despair about the 1200ES and HD audio formats: if you have a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player with multichannel analog audio outputs (e.g., Toshiba XA2), you can connect those outputs from the player to the corresponding ones on the 1200ES and hear high def audio. Don't know if this helps since I don't know if the PS3 has multichannel analog audio outputs.
