Help choosing a laptop £400 max (basic internet)

im after a laptop for my dad,,its his forst computer and he will only be using it for internet and photos/email.prob burn to dvd-r/cdr no blu-ray required or gaming spec

he is sure he wants a larger screen of 17"

ive found 2 but not sure if there any good!

both are £399 as he has a limit of £400

Out of those two, I would go for the Compaq off Tesco as it comes with Windows 7 HP where as the Medion is being crippled with Vista. So it will be a much nicer experience and the Compaq for the budget and price is good enough. :smashin:

good stuff,just realised then the medion had vista :smashin:

Is the duel core celeron ok for the basic needs?
 
saying that just a quick check on that benchmark and it looks quicker than my old pentium 4 2.8! and this is quick enough for him
