Hi, i have finally decided to upgrade my old Samsung LE40A656.

    TV used for:
    40% SKY HD, mainly Football
    50% Blu-Rays 2D and 3D now
    10% Xbox 360

I would love to have very good 3D performance and SMART capabilities. Picture Quality is be the most important factor for me.

    Budget - £1000

I was looking at the Samsung UE40ES8000, and it looks like the one i should go for, but i have not looked into the TV market for the past 5+ years so i am not sure.

Any suggestions would really be appreciated.

    Thank you

Also look at the Panasonic 42 gt 50 plasma at around £800. Reviews in the review section

    Thanks vickster.

The Panasonic is actually very good it seems in terms of picture quality and 3d performance. And £200 cheaper, can use the extra cash for a blu ray player.

    I'll go for the Panasonic.

Thanks, just looked at the thread in plasma section. People having issues with image retention while watching sky sports and news channels :(

I have never owned a plasma, always LCD. I really don't want any issue with image retention etc so I think I will stick with LED LCD.

Saw the Sony HX853. Looked promising but reviews suggest a lot of crosstalk on 3d viewing.

    Time for more research :/

There is no perfect TV. I had a plasma for 3 years, never a jot of IR and I watched lots of Sky. On ther other hand, I have an LCD and although I am happy with it (probably as it was half price and £300 less than the same size plasma at that time), it has lots of clouding on a dark screen

But it's up to you - little risk of IR or the issues with motion, clouding, crosstalk

Of course, only people who have issues with their TVs post about them on forum, for every 1000 posts on issues, there is probably 1 praising a TV :)

Have owned my Pioneer plasma for over six years. Watch a lot of Sky News . no image retention due to careful running in when new, which meant keeping the contrast level low. Set has also been Professionally calibrated.

i'm going to get a projector instead for movies and 3D with a 100 inch screen.

changed my mind as a m8 suggested it to me and it seemed pretty outrageous, but then i slowly began to think it was a great idea., and now here i am researching projectors now :)

thanks for all your help guys
