Hello Speedybee and welcome to the Forum. :)

Can you supply more details, please?

Did you see the set working before it was given to you?

Was it tuned to another transmitter at its original location?

Can you get any picture or sound at all (even noise)?

    Will it replay tapes?

Does the one-for-all work with another set?

The more info, the better! :smashin:

Using a universal or one-for-all type remote requires two codes....one for the Tv side and a different code for the Vcr.
Do a manual search using the Tv codes.

Thanks Tight Git for the welcome.
I didn't see the tv working before but it will play back all video tapes.
The one for all will work with my bush that is in my living room. Not that bothered whether the remote will operate the video just want to be able to tune tv stations, bush inform me that tv cannot be tuned without a remote, that is why i brought a one for all.I have tried the manual search the tv does not go into stand by mode. Unless i have done the search wrong but have followed instructions.

    Speedybee,

Does the one-for-all do anything? (volume, contrast, etc)

We need to determine if it's the TV that's faulty, or the remote isn't "talking" to it.

The remote will not do anything, had an email from one for all with a different code and this did nothing at all.

Sounds like it might be a duff remote. If it's any help, however, I've got an old Bush portable and you're welcome to borrow the remote on that to see if it helps (I would want it back though!) TBH, not sure if a remote for one Bush TV is likely to work for another....maybe someone else on the forum knows?

Codes do change from time to time, so two Bush TV's of different ages may well need different codes.

That's why there are often several codes for each manufacturer provided by universal remotes. :lesson:
