Help Blown Sub (possibly)

Standard Member
I have a pioneer amp running through some Sony Pascal speakers. The sub woofer is no longer working either in normal use or on the test signal.

Is there anyway I can confirm it is the sub and not the amp that's playing up?

Trying to borrow a active sub from a friend but am a bit nervous that the amp has somehow broken the sub and it'll do the same to his, so any advice would be greatfully received.

Is the sub an active or passive one? In other words, does it have its own on-board amplifier?

If it is active, and it won't generate a test signal, then the fault is almost certainly in the sub itself - other than that, I cannot offer any more assistance.

All the best.
