I've got an FMJ 27 on loan from my dealer.

I wanted to see the PAL progressive in action.

The problem is neither the NTSC or PAL progressive produce a very good picture.

Small black lines flicker on the screen as if a piece of picture information is missing.

    I'm using a Panasonic Plasma PWD4B.

Is the problem with the Plasma?

The FMJ works find in normal mode using the other interconnects.

The Plasma works find with my regular DVD.

The FMJ is running firmware 1.76.

That's very old firmware - the current is 1.81. At the very least, they should have given you a machine with the latest version. A lot of these problems get sorted out with updates - yours may be one of them.

Incidentally, as well as running old firmware, they have also given you the 'old' DV27 - it was upgraded in a manner similar to the DV88 when the DV88+ was produced, tho there was no apparent outward change to the DV27 machines.

The 'new' ones have more recent drives, MPEG decoder, AV and DSP boards. They can be identified easily tho as their drives run firmware LT7X not LT3X and player firmware has a series of characters currently ending in 34, not 1.XX

Thanks for your replies. When I returned the FMJ to the dealer he was already aware of the problem.

He is now going to loan me a new FMJ when he next shippment arrives.

I believe it was a firmware problem.
