Hi I have an older Panasonic VT20 50 inch plasma. It has been linked to a Panasonic SC-HTB10 soundbar for a number of years and has provided good service and integration through the Viera Link settings

The soundbar has recently started to fail (takes about 10 attempts to get it to turn on). As this is reported as a common problem when they get old, I thought I'd replace it.

I chose a Denon S216 - fantastic sound but although connected up via HDMI ARC, it turned itself on and off with the TV, but the TV remote failed to have any impact in terms of volume control ( the "cinema sound" slider would go up and down on the screen, but no effect on volume).

So I thought this may be a compatibility issue and exchanged it for a Panasonic SCT100 soundbar (not so impressed withe the sound from this but it was a 1/3 rd of the price) but have the same issue.

Is it me, or has the ARC protocol moved on?

If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated!

Thanks
