    Hi,

I have been lurking around the forums for a while now reading the various threads etc.I am looking to get a HD ready LCD – I have been reading here and looking in John Lewis amongst other places to see the one I like

The one that has stood out is the Panasonic TX26LXD500 – it has a good quality screen and is also nice in form. I was surprised how good a size the 26” was – although the more I am reading the more I am thinking 32” would be better. I was thinking of 26” because my wife and I do not want the TV to be too dominant in the room and the 32”ers are somewhat overwhelming.

I plan to use the TV in the future to watch HD tv and movies, play xbox 360, and connect my HTPC

I was hoping not to spend too much over £1200 (hopeful I know)

Anyway … here come my main questions:

Firstly, is the panasonic a good choice for quality, price and future proofing? – can ou make any other suggestions for a good choice (was looking at Samsung but was scared by tearing)

Secondly, would you recommend I move up to 32” and I will get used to the size? – if so which ones would you recommend for me to be able to connect all my devices and have some slack to maybe get Sky

Thirdly, given that I will not get my xbox until late November and the TV I have now is ok for normal TV (crap for HTPC though) would you recommend holding off until nearer the need of November to let prices drop – what is the feeling about price drop and/or are some more sets coming onto the market that will fulfil my criteria and save me some cash?

Sorry for all the questions, but I hope to rack your collective brains

    thanks in advance

    Will

Get the Toshiba 32WLT58, due sometime in September, wait for some reviews though.... anyway see below :

    2 x HDMI connectors, 1 for HTPC (DVI->HDMI) and 1 for Sky-HD
2 x audio in for DVI->HDMI with no audio (e.g HTPC)
    1 x PC vga (Dsub 15pin) for XBOX 360
3 x scart for VCR, blah blah blah....
1 x active subwoofer connector (for xtra boom).
    Freeview as well

All for £1200, initial releases will include the stand for free which costs £100.

thanks for this - i have been looking at this one and it does seem like a nice piece of kit.

I have just been reading this thread

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=230054&page=1&pp=15

and am tempted by the older version for a bit less cash (plus then, being completely impatient, i can get it now)

Anyone know what the picture quality is like compared to the Pana?

    thanks

    Will

I am easily persuaded and now I am looking more and more at the Hitachi 32LD7200 which looks like a corking screen, but if I end up waiting a while to order it (looks like out of stock everywhere :/ ) then i may have a good look at the new Tosh

    Hey Will,

There's a buzzing issue with the Hitachi, check it out before any decision.
