Hi, im james and im new to the forums. I'm in need of a little help choosing the right audio equipment for me. my current setup comprises of a Lg: 42lg7000 tv, ps3,xbox 360 and a pioneer htp-gs1 (hts-gs1 for america).
From that you can tell im kind of lacking in the sound department and want a decent hd audio setup to replace the pionner HTIAB and get the most from blu-ray. i've done a bit of research and found these 2 deals online. Are they any good???

    Onkyo TX-SR606 + Q Acoustic 1010i Exceptional-AV.co.uk : : Specialists in Onkyo's award winning Hifi and home theatre systems

or Onkyo HT-S9100THX Exceptional-AV.co.uk : : Specialists in Onkyo's award winning Hifi and home theatre systems

failing those 2, i'm aware that the sony STR-DG820 is a good piece of entry level kit. Are the Q Acoustic 1010i speakers worth the money or are these Tannoy SFX 5.1 speakers just as good? TANNOY SFX 5.1 SPEAKER SYSTEM - available from Superfi UK Visit http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/product_id/3804 for details

As you can see much help is needed:eek:

Hi James, and welcome to AVForums.

I think the 606/1010i would be a great combination, covering your current and future requirements.

cheers for the replies guys. but you've both said different and now im torn between the two! is the onkyo tx-sr-606 a Much better reciever than the one included in the HT-S9100 package(and this is 7.1)? is it better than the sony str-DG820?
My main concern is future proofing for hd audio formats.

All the amps mentioned support 7.1, the HT-S9100 just has the extra 2 speakers bundled. You may want to have a look at this review of the HT which was critical of the speakers included (Onkyo HT-S9100THX review - whathifi.com), and then look at the link on the same page to the 1010i's. I haven't heard either set personally but I know the 1010i's are quite highly regarded, and also think the 606 is probably a better amp than the one in the HT package (and probably better than the Sony).
