    Hello,

I'm trying to put together an AV system and would like someone to explain in language that a 4 year old would understand what I should be looking for in terms of 'ohms' and 'rms' power etc.. A lot of systems seem to be quite underpowered. I'm looking to use the system for music and movies.
    Thanks in advance,
    Simon

Depends on your budget, room size, listening style (very loud?) and other equipment, particularly the amp. Give us more info and we'll give you a short list to demo.

To be safe, get speakers which are rated as 8 ohms. Don't fuss too much with RMS ratings. They are less important. There are many different models out there to suit all pockets. :)

Ok.. don't laugh.. my budget is £500.
got a dvd player but have been looking at AIO systems cos there seems to be a great lack of slimline amps (got to reduce number of 'boxes' to please the mrs)
room size is around 14' by 9' and worrying the neighbours isn't a concern.. trying not to go the wood colour speaker. thanks for your help! :smashin:

thanks for those.. bit expensive for my budget tho. yeah i used to have a kenwood receiver but traded it in for the DV99. haven't got a great deal of space under the tv. did think about the pioneer amp but after being stung by their products and customer service recently i'm reluctant to go there again
