    Hi peeps,

I'm a regular to the home cinema section but now want to buy a digicam for a present. In my budget and my favs are the sony HC18E, JVC GR-D23EK & GR-D53EK.

I know nothing. i want an easy to use nice digicam. Which of these is best and how would i transfer the minidv to a vhs, vcd, dvd?

Please help as i don't know where to begin and although i could figure it out when it was in my hands i need it as a xmas present and by then it would be too late.

    many thanx

    Matt

Well to create a VHS tape from the cam just plug the lead (normally supplied with the cam) into the VCRs inputs and press play on cam & record on VCR - simple

DVD or VCD can be created on a PC by captureing the footage via a firewire port (aka iLink, ieee1394, DV port). Edit out the bad bits and then copy to a DVD or CD-R. This is all controlled by the software and methods will depend on what software you have/buy.
DVDs can also be created the same as for a VHS tape on a standalone DVD recorder and some recorders even have a firewire port to keep it digital all the way. This is quicker but you loose a lot of the editing features.

    Mark.
