If it's a budget DLP you want you won't go far wrong with either although many people on forums have stated that overall they feel the newer H30A has a slight edge over the 4805.

I havent seen the H30A or 4805 but I'd go for the Optoma simply because of the outstanding performance and reliability I've had from my H30 over the last 14 months, the Optoma 3 year hot swap warranty's also pretty reassuring.

I would have to 2nd MikeD, Optoma have proved very customer friendly and my H30 has proven to be a very capable machine, 12 months on and I'm still loving it....

    why not check out ebay

there is a company selling Screenplay 5700 from southern ireland - refurbished - and their reserve is £1100- my mate got one last weeek and, other than a couple of scratches on the top, it performs like new!

it really is bright and much bette than the 4805 or 30

    I demo'd a H30 and a 4805 before going for the H30. Personally the H30A would be my choice.

I have read that the 4805 has better video processing in the form of the top of the range Faroudja de-interlacer inside. This apparently results in better , more 'filmic' images than the H30A. The H30A has slightly better brightness/contrast but if movies are your thing, I'd go with the 4805 !
