    Hi,

After months of looking at TV's i am about to buy a new CRT tv 32" probably the Pana 32pd50 or the tosh 32zp48.

The question is should I pay a bit extra and get a Plasma or LCD screen?
There are some plasma on offer around the 1200 to 1500 mark - should these be considered? - I am expecting everyone to say that a bottom of the range Plasma will not have any where near as good picture quality of a CRT?

    Views please.

It all depends want you want out of a display. If you need to save space and look great then lcd or plasma is the way to go.If you care more about picture quality then crt it is.Personally i would get the tosh ,i have one after a rather poor panasonic 32pd30.The tosh is more nuetral when watching sky.Fantastic with dvd .

I was in a similar position, and in the end chose to go the CRT route and also got a 32ZP48 (which I also love). In my view, whilst the picture quality of Plasma's continues to improve, and the prices drop, it will still be a couple of years or so before they are at the quality level required. I think the introduction of mainstream broadcasting in HDTV will create the point at which this takes place, which I guess will not hit mainstream untill 2007 at the earliest.

If you manage to get a demo of either tv you are considering its worth trying to get it fed whaever you usually watch. There is no doubt the panasonic will look mindblowing with dvd[i had a pd30 and with dvd it was the best i have ever seen by miles] but with sky it was crud. Its about getting something that suits your needs.I now have a zp48 and am very impressed.

Hey Neil - which one did you end up getting the sales?

I've finally narrowed my choices down to Tosh 32ZP48 and Panasonic 32PD50 - struggling to find someone to demo them to me side by side.

    Any more thoughts?

You will struggle to find anyone giving bad reports on the zp48s picture.Saying that, if you mainly watch dvds check the panny out.Their definition and contrast are incredible.
