HELP… Pioneer Media player

Novice Member
Hi, this is probably a really stupid question but I’m struggling to get a straight answer via google…

So I’ve got a pioneer Kuro tv with speakers and the pioneer media player (PDA-V100HD) I thought I needed the media player plugged in for the sound to work but it doesn’t need to be plugged in for sound.

What do I actually need the media player for/what does it do? Just to let you know I use a fire stick that plugs directly into the tv.

Thanks in advance

The media player gives you HDMI, Composite/Component and Scart inputs and the ability to switch between them.
