Welcome to the first post from the newest AVForums Sponsor, The Sound Counsel.

Our aim is to continue to supply impartial, accurate advice on all aspects of audio, video and high-fidelity music systems continuing our work of the last two decades, under our own company banner.

We are committed to making The Sound Counsel consistent with the reputation which hopefully follows us to our new venture, and intend to build on this solid foundation going forward for the next decade and beyond.

We will specialise as before, in large project delivery but at the same time wont limit ourselves. Should someone need a TV on a wall with a soundbar, or a single item to upgrade their system with, we are more than happy to help.

We will leave this page open for some general conversation as we get ourselves going. Obviously if we can help with anything you can private message us here, or alternatively call the numbers below and we will be happy to help.

Welcome Dan from the Sound Counsel’s very first customer!
I located Nick’s first email to me of 17th June 2019 which I post here for posterity......

“Hi and greetings from my new company. I am still building things up so there is no website just yet and I am not launching officially as such. Given we have been talking though it is best to move to email – you are my first customer on this address!”

I’m sure that between the two of you, you will now attract scores more....I always say that if you can keep me happy you can keep anyone happy as when it comes to AV I have always been more than a bit obsessive. This obsession began even before the Laserdisc era; I think it started with VHS through an early Yamaha DSP-E580 but that was so so long ago.......

Remember that massive 50 inch rear projection TV with the custom screen..... and the Lexicon DC1? Yep had both + scores of noisy DLP projectors. Plasma didn’t come along until much later.

There’s a fair bit of of discussion about Trinnov on this forum at the moment and the scarcity of qualified dealer calibrators in the UK that really know how to set one of these up to achieve a great cinema sound.

Do you calibrate the Altitudes yourself as a matter of interest and if so how many have you done? I am aware that Nick is an expert on all things Dirac........

Ive probably got around 10 units in the field at the moment and do the calibrations myself. I was on board with the Altitiude right at the start and sold Serial Number 0004 if I remember correctly. I've also tried to have one on demo along with an ST2 since the start. The only way to have a hope of understanding these processors and talking about them with confidence is for me to have one at home or on demonstration.
