    Hi there,

I'm new here... please go easy on me!

I've been reading up on home cinema lately and I am thinking about getting myself an amp and some surround speakers.

    My current setup is:

    TV: Phillips PW9631C (a 32" widescreen CRT from 1997)
    DVD-RW: LG DR-4810
    PVR: Daewoo DHD-4000D
DIVX player: DX Digital player (available from ebuyer.com)
    VCR 1: Samsung SV-5000W
    VCR 2: Panasonic NV-FJ620
    Satellite: Sky Digibox
    Console: Sony Playstation 2

Now, from the research I've done, and based on my none-excessive needs I am probably going to go for the Denon AVR-1905 amp, which I've seen going for £225 inc VAT and postage. If anyone's seen this going cheaper please let me know.

When it comes to speakers, I've got three choices:

    KEF 2005.2 (£599)
    Wharfedale Diamond 9 HCP (£499)
Tannoy EFX 5.1 (£239, including a pair of stands)

Cheapest prices I've seen are listed above - if anyone can point me towards cheaper sellers that would also be appreciated.

Would it be best for me to start off with the Tannoys, which have got good reviews since they've come out? Has anyone tried using them with the AVR-1905?

Also, a quick question about speaker stands: can you configure the height of them at all, or are they always set at the same level?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

    Cheers,

    Andy
