Hell on Earth Ch 4 documentary on Ken Russells The Devils

Monday 25th, 11.10pm Channel 4. Mark Kermode disects the film (which airs afterwards at 12.15am) and, according to rumour, shows us the filthy bits the BBFC deemed too "extreme" to be seen.

I always liked the film and wondered just how far Ken Russell went in his depictions of debauchery in order to put the willies up the BBFC. I guess now I'll find out.
Warners still have the UK DVD release of this one on indefinite hold for now, and this documentary was originally slated to appear as an extra on the disc.

 

Oow, a definite watch, this one. Thanks mate! Thumbscrews and torture devices at the ready. It will be nice to see Oliver Reed again (not many of his films have been aired recently).

 

Someone's showing Hannibal Brooks on Monday afternoon (or it could be Sunday) aswell I think. Might be on BBC2.

The Devils Mmmm their going to show the bit of Nuns having sex with a statue of a certain person this bit of film was thought lost.

Great article, but don't go expecting Warners to re-instate the footage. They're still "ashamed" of this film.
