I would like to compare it to our 29" we have right now. Please could someone measure the height of their 36" widescreen in mm or cm. I take it all 36" screens will be the same?

    Thanks

The height of my Panasonic TX36PB50 is 580mm, the stand is another 580mm making it pretty high.

WSH, I also have a 29" and have done the maths (once I remembered Pythagoras' theorem of diagonals) :p

In choosing what to upgrade to, I was a bit surprised to find that those huge 32" widescreen TVs do not actually have as high a vertical screen as my 29". So an unstretched 4:3 image on a 32" would be smaller than I'm getting at the moment :( Of course, watching 2.33:1 letterbox widescreen movies is not so good on my 29"

Anyway, doing the maths, a 32" widecreen has about the same vertical as a 25" 4:3 TV. And to get a vertical about the same as a 29" 4:3, I'd need a 36" widescreen, and a bigger room ;)

Hope that answers your Q - sounds like a 36" will do it for you....

    Thanks folks. :)

Our 29" 4:3 TV screen is also 16.5", so I wont be losing any height.

    Why not get a 50" 4:3 :D then you will get a 36" widescreen

What are you on about? The thread was started by me with my question about the height of the screen of a 36" TV ie. the height of the glass.

You didnt ask a question.

    Your thread is here: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=62028

I was asking a different question to yours. For your information, the stand is narrower than the actual TV
