Michael Cimino's Heavens Gate is re-released this month at Venice, it was also announced previously that a Criterion edition of the movie is in preparation. See link below.

    Hi Bosque,

Despite all of its flaws, I would love to own the 219-minute full uncut version on Blu-Ray, in the correct Widescreen Ratio, as I think it would look lovely. Do you have, (or is there any), news on the Criterion release?

    Hi Pooch,

I don't receive the Criterion newsletter but apparently they have posted a clue to an upcoming release which features a cartoon of a winged violinist playing on roller skates, taken by many to be a reference to the roller skate dance in Heaven's Gate. No specific news on the disc but the Venice showing is 208 minutes.

219 minutes, (some problem with the AV Forums edit feature).

I always liked Heaven's Gate as it tries very hard to be as realistic to its time period as possible. I think its budget got it vilified far more than the film itself actually deserved.

    Regards
