Does anybody have the japanese DTS version of Heat, if so is it worth upgrading from the UK version.

Also what is the picture quality and DTS soundtrack like and is it worth the money i.e approx £20, cheers inza

Is this a new version? As my understanding was that the jap version though DTS was reframed but I could be mistaken. If that is true I would rather have the original aspect ratio than the DTS as the DD soundstrack is pretty good anyway.

Japanese R2 edition is 2.35:1 anamorphic, so is in original ratio.

Thanks, must have had dodgy info. Will look at upgrading.

Was there some talk of a special edition coming out?? Or am just always making stuff up?

There is a Special Edition R2 release listed on CD-WOW scheduled for 27 September. Doesn't really give any details though, so not sure if it's remastered or anamorphic.

According to what I've read, there is a R0 Korean version which has DTS, but is cropped to 1.85:1. You must be thinking of that one. The same disk is supposed to have another version of the film at the correct ratio, but with Dolby and no DTS.

Will probably wait until the new release now assuming it has DTS, i saw the R2 Japanese release at Movietyme which shows both DTS and proper 2.35:1 aspect ratio.

NO western editions of this film will have DTS as Warners doesn't support it, the only time you will see DTS on a Warners release is when another company is also involved such as Morgan Creek who got Warner to include DTS on True Romance and Prince of Thieves.

Looks like the R2 Japanese version then which is what i was going to get a month ago but had seen snippets of a new version coming out.

Go for the Japanese version then which is both DTS and OAR 2.35

I'd have a list of Jap discs as long as your arm, if they weren't so dammed expensive. :(
