Headphones don't work with my TV

Hi, I have a problem when using my headphones with my TV. When I'm watching or playing a game it cuts out many of the sounds, but not all of them. The ones that do come through are echoing and sound far away. I've tried changing the setting the settings on my TV, but that doesn't seem to help.

The TV is an LCD Magnavox and the headphones are AKG K77. If someone knows what it could be, that would be a great help. Thank you.

Sounds like the surround sound settings are wrong somehow. See if you can find a setting for mixing 5.1 down to stereo.
