Headphone extension cable that wont kill TV audio till headset plugged in

Standard Member
I want to run an extension cable from my TV through a void in the wall back to a face plate that is already beside the bed.

My question is , how can I get the extension cable not to take the audio from the TV speakers until I actually plug my headset into the face plate .

Cheers for any help

Innovative suggestions always welcome, but I doubt you are going to be lucky here as with most examples I've seen it is the physical act of plugging the cable into the TV socket that will disable the sound not the connection of actual headphones on the other end.
