    Hi all,

My father-in-law is stuggling to hear the TV so he turns it up rather loud, which deafens his wife. He has a Toshiba at the moment which will not allow you to have the headphones in and the external speakers on to allow for a happy medium for both listeners.

Does anyone know of manufacturers producing TV's that allow for this kind of operation, or of any other solution to the problem ?

    Cheers in advance

    Stu

I know Sony(HQ100) can have two different pictures and different sound levels for the speakers and headphones,i don't think it allows you to have differnet sound levels whilst watching the same picture though

Easiest solution might be to buy a cheap amp (second hand ?) and feed the tv audio out into the amp and plug the headphones into the socket on the amp. That way you can have two audio levels at the same time.

    Thanks Lynx,

He already has a good Arcam amp which I can use (if he doesn't mind the cabling).

I think he's secretly after a bigger and better TV and is looking for an excuse to get it past the wife :D

Why not use the amp to power a nice pair of stereo speakers, i'm sure he will benefit from this as will anyone else listening as well.
