    Hello,

Do I need a headphone amplifier for Denon AHD-550 (Impedance 35 ohm)?

I want to use it with my iRiver H140 (Impedance 16 ohm)

    Thank you,

    Daniel

No...you're unlikely to need an amp specifically for that, and will likely only notice a slight loss of maximum volume.

If you were interested in a portable headphone amp at some stage(some of the IC type amps in portable players can be a bit edgy at higher volumes)there are plenty of alternatives, but the Headroom range from the US are designed for portable use(most of them anyway),and mostly of good to excellent quality.
