    Howdie.
I recently bought some Astro A50 wireless headphones to use on my xb1x and I am massively underwhelmed by them, especially for the money. I knew that 'gaming' headsets were not going match decent head phones but I was shocked by the difference in quality between the Astros and even my modestly priced Sony MDR-1Rs and even the AKG in ear buds that came with my Samsung S8+

I was wondering what people here use and whether I can get a good recommendation for the £250 range.

I'm not too bothered by the headphones having a Mic as I play mostly single player games and can add a clip on at a later date if need be.

I'm also not bothered if they are wired or wireless.

Edit* I reckon I'd prefer some open back head phones.

I currently use the Astro mix amp and 3.5/2.5mm adapter on a I think it's called v-mods boom mic pro into some Sennheiser hd598se headphones. Wasn't sure about going the separate headphone and mic route over a dedicated headset, glad I did quality sound for gaming.

I agree Martin much better quality sound from headphones than gaming headsets. The mixamp also lets you customise your sound and fine tune e.g. Make gunshots or footsteps louder and Dolby surround.
