    Hi,

I have an old Denon tape deck which I'm thinking of putting back into service. It uses a drawer loading mechanism (like a CD player). This means that I can't get at the heads to clean them.

    Any ideas?

BTW I've heard that 'Head Cleaning Tapes' aren't such a good idea from the PoV of head wear - is this true?

    Regards,

    Jules.

I always used to use the 'wet' type cleaning casettes ... can't remember who made them ... but had a little pad that you used to soak with isopropanol and it wiped back and forth on a little plastic spring driven by one of the spindles ... also had a second pad that would clean the c**p off the pinch roller ...

It sounds like the Allsop 3 cassette cleaning system. No idea if they are still made though. I haven't switched my cassette machine on for years:D

They are Allsop 3's and they are still made. I saw them in Comet the other week and they are about the best cleaner on the market for Cassette Players... You should also look at getting a head demagnatiser if you are serious about this. TDK do them and you can see them at
