Hdx bd-1

Just received the new HDX BD-1. First impressions are very disappointing. Player doesn't recognize the mkv.files on my computer and other hd-files are played with all kind of errors in the picture. Menu setup also very limited, almost no possibilities and compared to the HDX-1000 it looks like they downgraded instead of upgraded the product. Will post my future findings soon.

Firmware for it is still in its infancy so I wouldn't expect it to be great for the next 6 months if the C-200 is to go by.

Probably, advancedmp3 players, ripcaster, digitalera I think all sell the old HDX, so will probably sell the new one. My money would still be on the Popcorn Hours for at least the next 6 months though (the C-200 is still bug ridden)

as always waiting for reviews ;)

Had mine for two days now , I have not turned it on yet believe or not!

I will have a play with it soon and post a review. Its my first media player.

Previously played blurays via hdmi from my sony laptop but soundcard couldnt bitsteam hd audio to my amp. Hoping the player doesnt let me down.

Just spent half a day ripping my bluray collection onto 1.5tb external usb. Need to work out how to set up all the required software for movie jukebox.

Hooked it up now and my initial impressions of bd1 are good.

Cant fault picture quality :) Linked up perfectly with my iomega hard drive and accessed files very quickly.

Tested with true hd and dtsma , both bitsteaming perfectly to my amp.

No pixelation , stuttering on playback or any nasty stuff like that.

I checked out 15 bluray files and two would not play . The files in question will play when using laptop so I am hoping it is just a bug which will be fixed by firmware.

Havent connected to router yet or viewed photos so cant comment on that side of things. Only tried to play bdmv files also , no mkv or ts files.

I bought it direct from webstore of hdx. Came from China. No import duty from customs , but i may have been lucky. $219 plus 50 for shipping to uk.

thanks, hmm its tempting, if I understand it right it can bitsream DTS HD MASTER, TRUE HD and you can plug in a USB Bluray drive of your choice for commercial playback. If this could do BR region free then I would buy one no doubt,

cheers,

Neil

Yeah Neil it can bitstream perfectly to a compatable amp , thats the main reason i bought it . Thought about a Mede8er or xtreamer but didnt want to wait for hd audio support.
I am prepared for the bd1 to be a bit buggy though but i can live with that as long as firmware upgrades sort any issues. Previous model hdx 1000 seems to have a lot of happy users.

Yes i had the 1000 and was my favourite NMT Model,as For the Bd1 im very pleased so far, tried it with many many different files and 99% play just some badly encoded ones sufferd,But even files with 12/16 Reframes played and tested well,All bd iso`s woeked Flawlessley and playback was spot one with Full Bitstream in TrueHD/dts MA.
Can confirm there is a few bugs in gui nothing major, but new update due very soon so will pass judgement on the player after the update as most people..if they wish to order will not be able to fro a few weeks anyway.
My good friend rmdw1 is spot on with his judgement..:)

new firmware, note 2 appears to indicate the option to toggle between bluray region, am I interpreting this right? if so that's gotta be the best all round value NMT so far in principle, at least in my opinion
