    As you can probablty tell i am not that wel informed about technical things so please bear with me.
    I own a toshiba 36 zp48 which i am totally happy with.
    Is it possible to recieve hdtv on this unit?
    If not is there any converters that i can buy to recieve hdtv for this set?

    It will not receive HDTV.
    Yes there are scalers and also some satellite receivers and DVD players with scalers built in. Some of these might let you downscale the picture so that you watch it on your normal screen - but it won't be HDTV resolution (or quality) then.
    There are too many variables to say whether or not this would result in a better picture than a standard definition broadcast of the same material received directly - not all scalers are of equal performance.
